Dessert Personality Test

I got this in an e-mail today, so I decided to share. Also, I needed a post idea.
Anyone who wants to can take the test and then leave your dessert in the comments.
By the way, I am #6. Chocolate and more chocolate! And the results really do kinda describe me.

If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose? (Sorry, you can only pick one!) Trust me...this is very fun.Pick your dessert, then look to see what psychiatrists think about you.

Here are your choices:
1. Angel Food Cake
2 Brownies
3. Lemon Meringue Pie
4. Vanilla cake with Chocolate Icing
5. Strawberry Short Cake
6. Chocolate and more Chocolate
7. Ice Cream
8. Carrot Cake

No, you can't change your mind once you scroll down, so think carefully what your choice will be...OK - Now that you've made your choice this is what research says about you...

How I spent spring break

Since y'all asked for it, here are the pictures of the chalkboard closet doors I did for Boo's room.

Of course, they are no longer this clean! LOL. They have had a blast drawing all over these doors. And as you can see, I even tried it out.

And this is the border that I finally got done on the side of our garage, (which really needs to be painted). The large plants are hot pink crape myrtles with variegated monkey grass in between. Now I just have to wait for the grass to grow back around it.
This was my favorite project. I love getting my hands dirty out in my flower beds. I will post more pictures as I complete more projects. : ) On the right lower half of the picture is my neighbors back yard fence. The stuff growing out of it is actually soft pink climbing roses. I will take pictures when they bloom so y'all can see what a difference all that color makes. Hopefully all of the grass around the border will have grown back by then!

One scared mother

So I finally have some time to post, but about what? I was going to show off the closet doors that I painted in chalk board paint for Boo's room. But then I wonder...am I being self-absorbed? My post earlier today, it sounds like it's all about me. And now I just want to tell myself- "Get over yourself already!" I just don't know what to say. The news about V tech Monday just blew my mind. All the sensational media coverage just makes me sick. The thought of this happening again in a school just makes me scared. My kids go back to school on Monday after being out for spring break, and I am scared. I know it didn't happen here. But it could, couldn't it. I know it was a college, not an elementary school, but that doesn't really make me feel much better.
I am trying to keep the TV coverage off as much as possible. I don't want my kids to hear what is going on and be scared to. They love school. I don't want that ruined for them. And yet, for the first time ever I am actually contemplating home schooling them by middle school, if not before.
The world we live in now is a scary place. When I was a kid I would never have imagined how different things would be when I grew up. I mean, school shootings, 9/11, pedophiles in almost every neighborhood across the country, and a war that seems to have no end. Of course, I guess past generations didn't foresee their wars, the depression, pearl harbor, etc.........
I'm just a mom who worries about keeping my kids safe in this crazy world. How about you?

No "ME" time right now

Okay, I am a bad blogger. But nothing exciting is going on right now. And the kids are on spring break this week, which means I have very little time to sit at the computer.
Besides...who's really reading this anyway?

I will try to get back up to speed next week, and whenever I find time between now and then. Maybe I'll even have some spring break stories to share.

In the mean time...Oops, gotta go herd in the kids.

First the bad news....

okay, so I was watching the news a little while ago and this news story just blew me away. You can read about it here http://www.wkrg.com/. I mean it has been a year and a half since Katrina blew away the gulf coast and these poor people are still having to deal with this bureaucratic b.s. It is just unreal. Haven't they been through enough? Shouldn't our government be helping with the process of them get their lives back? Instead of rolling out more red tape.

Katrina was the scariest hurricane I have ever been through. Of course I have only been living in the south for like 14 years. We were very blessed to only have a little damage. In the end all we needed was a new roof, which our insurance paid for. I can't imagine what life must be like for the people along the coast of Mississippi, and even in some parts of Alabama still. But it's not New Orleans, so the rest of the country doesn't even hear about it any more. Not that I don't feel bad for the people of New Orleans, because I do feel for them. But they are not the only ones who lost their homes and way of life. People all along the gulf coast are still suffering too.

Okay so that was my rant for the night. Now for something fun. This is from an e-mail I got from a friend and I thought it was so cute that I just had to share...

This is Priceless!
When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness...just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
I'll write on the wall with reds, whites and blues,
And I'll bounce on the furniture...wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat,
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry...I'll run...if I'm able!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
I'll sit close to the TV, through the channels I'll click,
I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud 'til the end of the day!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"
God Bless All Moms and Grandmas and Great Grandmas Everywhere!

The family reunion and other issues

The family reunion went a lot better than I expected. The kids had a blast since there was so much for them to do. I enjoyed hanging out with my cousin and her family that I haven't seen in a while. All in all-not a bad day. But I did step back at one point and whisper to my dad, "I can't believe I am related to some of these people." But, after talking to different people I have come to realize this is common. Everyone has some "crazy" somewhere in their family tree.

Monday I had a bad scare. G-man was not on the bus that afternoon, but Boo, and the neighbor both made it home. I asked him where his brother was and he said he did not know, that he didn't see him on the bus. Well, being the (not so) rational mom that I am, I loaded up the kids in the car and when flying down the road to the school. About half way there it dawned on me that I probably should have called the school first to make sure he was even still there. Which of course he wasn't. He, and about 30 other kids got on the wrong bus, (WHAT?!?), And were being dropped off at their correct stops. So then it's a mad dash home, knowing he is going to make it there before me and there is no one at home, and he is only 8, and I'm just a horrible mommy, and WHY WON'T THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME JUST GET OUT OF THE WAY ALREADY! Okay, so I stop paniking long enough to call my neighbor who is thankfully home and get her to get my son and let him know I am on my way. And all my sweet boy wants to know is if I have his brother. He was worried about his brother. I could have cried. So we get back home and I scoop my to-big-for-mommy-kisses son into my arms and hug him. Next time I will call the school first and hopefully avoid an almost nervous breakdown. Lesson learned. Now if we could just get rid of their bus driver. But that's another story for another day.
