The end is near, (of my shopping that is).

Well, I am finally about half done with my shopping. I have gotten all I am going to get (maybe) for my kids. Now I just have to get for everyone else on my list. The hardest part is going to be shopping for my parents. I might have something figured out for my mom, that is if I haven't waited to long to order it, but I don't have a clue as to what I should get for my dad. They are no help. All they will tell me is not to get them anything. Yeah right, this are my parents. With everything they do for us during the year, not to mention the way they spoil all 5 of us at Christmas, I've got to get them something! I guess I will figure it out, (hopefully).
I really hope the hubby is going to get some kind of Christmas bonus this year. I just wish they would hurry up with it already if they are going to do it. I hate waiting till the absolute last minute to shop. Oh well, I just won't count on it, and be happy if/when he gets it. Maybe we can use it to get each other gifts this year.
Happy shopping everyone!

This is why I DON'T read the newspaper

This just made me sick. Especially now that I have worked at the school a couple of times, and seen first hand the shape our school system down here is currently in. This was on the front page of yesterdays local paper........

More than 150 {local} teaching and other positions will remain unfilled for the next 10 months due to an expected budget shortfall, officals announced Tuesday.
Even more teaching and other jobs may be cut next fall. The system currently has 116 vacancies on the local school level, many of which are teachers, as well as 56 central office vancancies. Those positions are now under an official hiring freeze.
Many teaching vacancies are in inner-city schools. One school has six vacancies, including four first grade teaching slots.
In addition to the firing freeze, the system may have to cut some of its 433 locally funded teaching positions. Those include assistant principals, teachers assigned to reduce class sizes, music and art teachers and others that the system hired in addition to the state allotment.
The state gives local systems enough money to hire one teacher for every 18 to 25 students, depending on the grade level. But because those students are not evenly distributed among schools, {superintendent} said, he hires these extra teachers.

DETAILS OF SCHOOL CUTBACKS

School officials said they would decrease the system's spending this year and next by taking the following steps:
*Enact a hiring freeze through Sept. 30, 2008. That means 116 jobs in schools and 56 in the central office that are vacant now will remain so. People who are currently on the payroll but retire, quit are fired or are reassigned during that time will be replaced. But supervisors will have to show that the job is "essential to operation."
*Reduce the number of teachers and other positions that are funded through local revenue above the state allotment. The system will reorganize and redistribute personnel to address vacancies.
*Further reduce staffing through attrition.
*Eliminate overtime pay for employees, which totaled $1 million last year and has been on track to do so again so far this year. Employees would get compensatory time off instead.
*Eliminate in 2009 the administrative program, which trains people to become principals while they work at a school in need of an assistant principal.
*Travel and staff development will be limited only to requirements set forth by schools receiving federal funding, to training that is required for employees to maintain their certification and to training required by law.
*A 30-day moratorium has been placed on all spending, with the exception being utility bills, cafeteria services, emergencies and a couple of other exemptions.
*The system has asked officials with the Alabama Department of Education to audit the special-education services currently being offered. Officials suggested they may be providing too much.
*Streamline legal costs. The school system has spent an average of $1 million on legal fees through the Atchison Firm over the last couple of years.
*Refrain form adding new programs and initiatives that require funding from local sources.
*Reduce and eliminate outside contracts where practical. And minimize temporary services.

Personally, I think they should add "pay cut for superintendent and other over-paid employees, to make up for the budget shortage" to their list. The current superintendent is wwaaaayyyy over-paid, and the new one starting at the first of the year was promised a huge paycheck to come here. Wtf? Why can't the cut backs start there? Aren't the future of this state and country more important than their damn paychecks? Obviously not.
So, what pisses you off?

Can I open my presents now?

Not a lot to post about yet, since it is only Monday morning........but I just had to share some of my little Bugs cuteness from the weekend.

Yesterday morning everyone got up before me, (look, I was tired so Dad got to be in charge for a little while....cut me some slack, will ya), anywho.......Kbug gets up and heads straight for her daddy.

K-bug with Boo

Kbug: "Daddy, Mommy needs to get up and put the presents under the tree so that we can open them."

Daddy: "No sweetheart, it's not Christmas yet. It's not time to open presents, you still have a while."

Kbug: "Then I need to go back to bed so Mommy can get up and go to Walmart and buy presents and put them under the tree so that we can open them. It's Christmas....she put up the lights and the tree."

Daddy: (laughing) "Mommy is just getting ready for Christmas, you still have a few weeks before we can open presents."

Now that I have heard this I am scared to even put the presents under the tree. She might get up the next morning and decide it's Christmas and start tearing into them while the rest of us sleep! She's too cute about the whole thing. Now at age 4 she's big enough to really get excited about it all and really enjoy it. I guess I will be spending the next four weeks telling her no, not yet, today is not Christmas.

Ahhh, only four weeks, and I still have sooooo much shopping left to do!

I had my second job

Yeah, it's the weekend. I am sooooo tired. I really need to clean my house. I need to start getting my Christmas decorations up, including the tree. Then I will have to clean again, (the tree and stuff can be messy). I guess we'll see how it goes.
I had my second sub job yesterday. I did P.E., which means I had all grades throughout the day. At least I had help from another sub with 14 years experience. I am scared of the day when I have to run a class by my self. It really wasn't too bad. It was a beautiful day to be outside, and most of the kids were pretty good. But, I also have now completely made up my mind that I DO NOT want to go back to school and be a teacher full time. God bless teachers. I have a whole new respect for them and what they have to put up with through out the day. Maybe if I had gotten into teaching before I had kids....maybe then I could have handeled it. But now I know that I don't want to spend my entire day, everyday with a room full of kids, and then come home and deal with the wants and needs of my own lovely children. Now, don't take this the wrong way, I love kids, ESPECIALLY my own. I just know now that when I go back to a full time job.....I want to be around adults. I want to have adult conversations. And I don't want to feel the need to run away screaming from my children when they start tattling on one another because I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE after listening to it all day every day. So, I will just stick to subbing from time to time, and leave it at that.
Now I guess I'd better get started on cleaning my house....or maybe take a nap.........

Let the cooking begin...........

There probably won't be a lot of blogging going on this week, I know I won't be anyway. And I am sure most of you will be as busy as I. I've got shopping, cooking and cleaning to get done this week.......we'll see just how much I actually get accomplished.

This is one of the things I plan on making for Thanksgiving. Black Forrest Cake......Yummy!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Update: OMG...the cake was fantastic! I will be making another one very soon, and probably will make one for Christmas also. Yummy.........y'all can get the recipe here.

Try this.......

I'm not really sure if I believe it, but this is cool anyway. Who wouldn't want to be Maryiln? I wish I had her kind of body at least.

You are Maryiln Monroe

A classic tortured beauty
You're the dream girl of many men
Yet they never seem to treat you right

Still recharging

The spa party was pretty fun. Even though I didn't really "spa", instead I helped my friend with it since there were so many guests. I really enjoyed getting to hang with my cousin whom I don't see very often since she lives across town, and we are both so busy with our kids. It was great getting away for a few a having a girls night.

I would have posted about this yesterday, but I didn't have the chance. That's because I had my first sub job yesterday! Yeah me! It was kindergarten, so that wasn't too bad, but I was still really nervous. I did manage to get through the day, and I will do it again. At least now I have my foot in the door and know a little bit more about what to expect. I was wore out by the end of the day. Caring for my 3 is nothing compared to caring for 16, (very energetic), five year olds. Thank goodness a lot of the staff there already knows me, and were very nice and helpful.
Today I get to relax and recover from yesterday by cleaning my neglected house, and disposing of my son's dead turtle. Yes, that is a whole other story....when I woke G-man up this morning, I noticed an awful smell in his room. I finally checked the turtle, whom we have had for close to 2 years, and he wasn't moving. "Sorry guys....your turtle is dead. No, he's not just sleeping....I poked him and he didn't move." They were upset. I probably should have waited until after school to have told them. Oh well, such is life...........Now I have to figure out how to dispose of it. Wait a minute....today is trash day, or should I bury him? What do y'all think?

Free for a few

I am sooo excited! Tonight I get to go to a margarita spa party at my cousins house. My neighbor sells Beauty Control, and she is the one doing the spa for my cousin. My cousin sells jewelry and my neighbor will be returning the favor by hosting a party for her in the near future. All great stuff, now I just need a job so I can afford to buy something, he he.

I have been to several of these spa parties, have even hosted one myself, and they are so fun. You know how it is...get a bunch of crazy women together, add alcohol.....good times! My neighbor doesn't drink so I will be riding with her. Although, I'm not much of a drinker myself, but it's better to be safe in case I do decide to have a couple. What I am really looking forward to is getting out of this house and not having to hear "Mama" for a couple of hours. I REALLY need the break.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Oh, and BTW, if you haven't yet, check out Lisa's post....too funny....good memories!

Halloween pictures

Here are the Halloween pictures I promised y'all, (if blogger will cooperate that is).

Both of the boys dressed as vampires. Hubby said I did a good job on there make-up and costumes because they looked like pictures he's seen of the "vampires" in Romania, (which is where hubby is originally from). Cool! K-bug wanted to be a kitty kat, (like Dora), so that was pretty easy. All in all I spent under $30 to do all 3 costumes, yeah me. I ended up with my 3, the little boy across the street, the wife of hubbys co-worker and her baby for trick-or-treating. We weren't even out an hour, how sad is that? But we were all tired and it was a school night. For the most part though we had a good time. And I am soooo glad it's over.

In other news.....Things are better since my last post, for now. Hubby has since apologized, more than once, for being an ass. He's the sweetest man when he is sober. He is a total shithead, SOMETIMES, when he is drunk. After watching The Exorcist on TV the other night I wondered to myself if people still did that, exorcisms that is, and if it would work on the hubby. Crazy yes, but still, it's a thought. Probably wouldn't work anyway, don't you have to be Catholic, or at least know a priest? Hmmmm, note to self.....something to look into on sleepless night web surfing.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I will be checking y'all sights looking for pictures. And I WILL post mine just as soon as blogger lets me.

Warning: Adult language

So here are some things I have learned in my 11 1/2 years of marriage......

1-It is easier to fake an orgasm than it is to fake being happy.
2-Men can be selfish monsters.
3-Especially when they are drunk.
4-No matter how hard you work as a wife and mother, it is never enough. Don't expect a thank you unless you ask for one.
5-Especially from selfish husband.
6-Sometimes life really sucks.
7-When you have kids, you have no choice but to deal with the shitty days, put on a happy face, and still try to be a good mom.
8-Sometimes I really, really, really don't like the man I am married to.
9-I feel stupid for still loving him even when I really, really, really don't like him.
10-I know deep down that I deserve better than the shit I put up with on a regular basis.

Sorry y'all, but it was a really shitty weekend and I just had to vent. I am trying really hard to be mature with my anger and not throw all of his clothes out in the front yard and run over them with the lawn mower, (although it is soooooo tempting!), or break something of his, (he doesn't have anything worth breaking anyway, most of the stuff in the house came with me).

I just really can't get into what has got me in this mood, but it has a lot to do with the husbands drinking. And that this weekend his drinking led him to become a complete fucking asshole.

Again, I am sorry for the language. I rarely talk like that. It was even difficult for me to type. But it's how I feel, and that is what this blog is for........................

BTW...Help!

MySpace images

Okay, so it's what, like two weeks til Halloween? I need ideas on costumes for my kids. Money is tight right now, so store bought costumes are really out of the question. I have tons of scrap material, and can get more cheap, but what I need are ideas. So I am enlisting help from all of my creative blogging buddies out there. G-man is 9, Boo is 7, and K-bug is 4. I might have a lead on hers....she told me today that she wants to be a "kitty kat". I'm thinking grey sweats, sew some ears on a head band, and sew a tail that I can then pin to the sweat pants. Please y'all, any suggestions would be great. And I promise I will even post pictures of them after!

My year, so far, in cakes......

I needed something to post, and I remembered that awhile back I had promised to post pictures of cakes that I have done. So without further adue............

Boo's 7 th Birthday.....It's a racing cake, not some of my best work

G-man and his Pawpaw's Birthday's are one day apart, so sometimes we celebrate them together.

K-bug just had to have a purple care bear. I know, it looks kinda blue in the picture, it did in person too, but she loved it just the same.

This is the one I did for my cousins 18 th Birthday. He got a kick out of it.
I have more, but they are on a disk somewhere and I am too lazy to look for them.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend....I'll catch up with everyone later.

Another stolen, stolen meme

I stole this meme from Michelle, (she said I could), who stole it from Jenny. Feel free to steal it too!

What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now? Irish Spring, hubby's favorite
Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator? No
What would you change about your living room? It hasn't been too long since we redecorated it, so not much, except putting in the laminate wood strips that go between the wood and the ceramic tile at the entry way and the dinning room.
Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty? Neither, it's empty since I usually hand wash my dishes.
What is in your fridge? Milk, kool-aid, sweet tea, leftovers, and the usual condiments....I need to go to the store.
White or wheat bread? I prefer white, but I need to start eating more wheat
What is on top of your refrigerator? I'm not really sure, and I am kinda scared to check.
What color or design is on your shower curtain? Butterflies in the master bath, sea shells in the kids/guest bath.
How many plants are in your home? 3 peace lilies that only get watered when they are on the verge of death!
Is your bed made right now? Sorta, I did straighten it, but hey, I do make the kids bed almost every day.
Comet or Soft Scrub? Neither, I usually use a vinegar and water mixture to clean with.
Is your closet organized? As much as it can be. It's not very big, so I have to racks on each side, hubby's stuff on one side and mine on the other. It's as close to a walk-in as I could get.
Can you describe your flashlight? Which one? We have several and can never find any of them when we need it!
Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home? Plastic...glass and 3 kids just don't go together around here.
Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now? Always.
If you have a garage, is it cluttered? We are working on converting our carport into a garage. I am usually the one who cleans it, (because I get tired of tripping over hubby's crap), so yes it's cluttered, but it is also fairly clean.
Curtains or blinds? Both mostly, just curtains in Boo's room since he tore his blinds up.
How many pillows do you sleep with? 2
Do you sleep with any lights on at night? Does the TV count? I set the sleep timer on it before I go to sleep.
How often do you vacuum? Depends on how messy my floors are and if we are having company, usually 3-4 times a week anyway.
Standard toothbrush or electric? Standard
What color is your toothbrush? White and pink.
Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch? No.
What is in your oven right now? The oven racks.
Is there anything under your bed? A dismantled toddler bed that I need to get rid of.
Chore you hate doing the most? Cleaning the bathroom
What retro items are in your home? Nothing really, unless you count toys that were mine and now belong to my kids.
Do you have a separate room that you use as an office? Not so much an office as a junk room. The computer, my sewing machine, and tons of crap all piled up around the walls.
How many mirrors are in your home? 3
Do you have any hidden emergency money around your home? No
What color are your walls? Mostly off-white, the rooms that do have color...K-bug-yellow, hall bath-peach, master bath-taupe.
Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home? No
What does your home smell like right now? Like my house.
Favorite candle scent? Pumpkin spice or mocha which makes my house smell like a cafe.
What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator? Dill slices.
What color is your favorite Bible? Black.
Ever been on your roof? No
Do you own a stereo? Yes
How many TVs do you have? 5 (omg, that is just obscene!)
How many house phones? 2
Do you have a housekeeper? Yeah-ME
What style do you decorate in? None really, I just want it to feel comfortable and homey.
Do you like solid colors in furniture or prints? Both
Is there a smoke detector in your home? 3 or 4 of them!
In case of fire, what are the items in your house which you’d grab if you could only make one quick trip? Pictures, box of important papers, oh, and the kids turtle Sam.

I'm still here, for now

Yes ladies, and well, ladies,(since no men read this), I have been MIA all last week. I spent it babysitting my friends 8 month old little girl. I now have no doubt once so ever that I am done having babies. She is a sweet baby, I would babysit her over any other baby I know, but I don't want any more of my own. I was exhusted after each 10 hour day with her. I am use to mine going to the bathrooms themselves, feeding themselves, playing without my assistance, and so on. How did I do it with three? Okay, they weren't all babies at the same time, but still.

In other news.....I had a cervical biopsy done about 3 weeks ago. Last friday I had all (hopefully) of the abnormal cells scraped off. Can I just say freaken OUCH! I go back in six months to make sure they got it all. This is the main reason for my lack of blogging and my anxiousness (note-"how I feel" to the right).

So thats whats going on in my world. How is everything with y'all?

What color crayon are you?

You Are a Red Crayon

Your world is colored with bright, vivid, wild colors.
You have a deep, complex personality - and you are always expressing something about yourself.
Bold and dominant, you are a natural leader. You have an energy that is intense... and sometimes overwhelming.
Your reaction to everything tends to be strong. You are the master of love-hate relationships.

Your color wheel opposite is green. Green people are way too mellow to understand what drives your energy.

I guess this fits me, but I really expected to be green or yellow even. Oh well, it gave me something to post today, anyway.

5 Things

Michelle tagged me for a "5 things you probably don't know about me" meme, so here goes.....

1. My Dad was in the Air Force when I was born. He got stationed at Hill, A.F.B. in Utah when I was a baby, and that is where we stayed. He got to travel all over the place, but only for weeks or months at a time, so the family stayed put.

2. I am an only child, and I hated it when I was little. I would beg my parents for a brother or sister. When I was in my teens I loved it. It meant my parents could afford to get me a car, lol. As an adult I sometimes wish I had at least one sibling. Maybe thats one reason I married into such a big family. Hubby has 12 brothers and sisters, and most of them are married. (This is also probably the reason why I have 3 kids.)

3. I am usually very passive. I seem to try to be the peace maker a lot of times. Yet, I also have a temper. Once I do get fired up, all bets are off. Then I can be a real bitch.

4. I moved to Alabama my senior year of High School. I had enough credits to be finished at the end of the first semester, so my parents let me stay with their friends until then, then I moved down here with them. ( They were already here about 4 months before me).

5. I have flown by myself twice. When I was 17, I flew sown here by myself to spend Christmas with my parents, then flew back to Utah to finish school. I also flew back to Utah that May to graduate with my class, and then flew back here.

So there is a few things about me. Lisa knows a lot of this stuff already, since we went to High School together. It was hard to think of 5 things. I hope the people I tag will have more luck.

1. Ann
2. Attila the Mom
3. Erin

Parents need to support each other

So Erin had this great idea of supporting Rachael by getting bloggers together to write controversial, yet positive posts. Rachael lost her daughter Hannah in a tragic drowning accident last month. She has been blogging about it as a way of therapy, but has gotten some very negative feedback because of it. My heart breaks for Rachael and her family. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to loose a child. I don't think any of us could unless we've been there. And even then, we all deal with our grief in different ways. Us mom's, (and yes, even dad's), need to stick together and support one another. So, even though I didn't sign on to have my post linked through Erin, I am writing the following in honor of Hannah and for her Mom, Rachael.

When K-bug was a new born, Boo was 3 and G-man was 5. It was November of 2003, the weekend after Halloween. It all sticks in my head so clearly still. K-bug was napping inside, while Hubby and I were sitting out front enjoying the warm day and listening to the kids play next door. Our two families were close, and I kids were back and forth at each others houses all the time. Boo was in there back yard playing with their little girl his age. They had a small fire going in the back yard, (this is common for this area), but there were adults out there at all times. Well, almost. Apparently, everyone over there had went inside for all of a minute. Boo took this opportunity, (he has always been a little curious, or maybe sneaky is a better word), and found some spray paint cans the man next door had hid until he could dispose of them. Boo took one of the paint cans and through it in the fire. He was only a couple of feet from it, facing it, when it blew up. Hubby and I heard the loud boom and then the screaming, and knew it was one of ours. We took off running next door. When I saw my baby, the top of his forehead and head covered in black, I thought I would go crazy. I was so scared. My neighbor scooped him up and was bring him to Hubby while I hit my knees and started begging God to let him be okay. Someone got me up off the ground, sat me down on an ice chest and laid Boo across my lap. We were running cool water from the hose across his face, trying to see what damage had been down. Looking back now, it might not have been the smartest thing to do, but it was something. I'm not sure who called 911, but suddenly they were there. The took Boo and put him in the ambulance. One EMT came out and told me I could ride with him, but I HAD to calm down first. I sat back there with him, talking to him, trying to keep him conscious. I didn't realize Hubby had called his brother and sister-in-law to come sit with G-man and K-bug. I didn't even realize he was in the ambulance too, up front, until we were a few miles down the road.
We went to the Women's and Children's Hospital, which has the best burn unit around. When they got him into a room and started cleaning him up, we all realized that all the black was just paint, not charred skin. It took a little while to get him to open his eyes and test his vision. Once they did, his eye sight was fine. He ended up with minor burns around his eyes, and small minor burns on his arms and chest. Other than being tired and grouchy from the shock, he was fine.
I don't think I have ever been that scared in my life. I was so afraid I was going to loose him. Or at the very least, he would be blind or disfigured. But my beautiful little boy was fine, and we were so very thankful.
For about 2 years after that he could not handle the sound of fireworks. The boom would send him into a crying fit. Really, I wasn't much better about the noise myself. But, he is fine now. He is a beautiful 7 year old boy, and he doesn't remember any of it.
I thank God everyday, probably not nearly enough, for my 3 beautiful children. Although they drive me crazy some times, I wouldn't give anything in the world for them.
Hug your children everyday. Tell them you love them everyday. We don't know how long we will have them with us. So cherish them for as long as you do.

Sometimes life is crazy

Yes folks, I'm back. Last week was a rough one. I'm hoping this week will be better, (but I'm not counting on it). I guess I should start at the beginning.

Last Tuesday night my bff K had a seizure and hit her head on her ceramic tile floor. Another friend, D, called 911 and the EMT's checked K out and made sure someone would be with her through the night. Her boyfriend, my brother-in-law staid w/her.
Wed. she slept a lot, so I just called a few times to check on her. That evening her oldest son came over to get me because she wasn't feeling "right". I went to check on her and while I was there she had to mini-seizures and passed out. I called 911, and sent her boys across the street to stay with a neighbor. While waiting for the EMT's she had another seizure, and I was really starting to freak out. Now let me just say at this point that I have been through several seizures with her and have always kept it together, I know how to handle it. But this one was different. I KNEW she needed to go to the hospital. She ended up staying in the hospital until Friday. A lot of crap went on during those days, but I just can't get into all that. But I will say this. K has some tough love headed her way. The cause of her seizures is her not eating! Her eating disorder has decided to rear it's ugly head again. A few of us, her closest friends, are going to sit her down a give her a dose of tough love, how she needs to take care of herself because she is all her boys have, (her husband killed himself a year and 1/2 ago). I don't think we'll have to be to hard on her though. This seems to have been a wake up call for her. And she is blessed to have her friends that really care about her no matter what. What more can anyone ask for?

The reason I said this week might not be much better? Well, I might have been exaggerating that one. It might be fine, I've just got some personal stuff going on right now. I will share at a later date when I actually know what.........what it is I want to say.

I've been tagged!

Okay, so I have been tagged by Michelle to do this meme, and since I have not a single post idea anyway, I thought, "what the heck, I'll do this". So thank you Michelle.

Back to school

Well, today was the boys first day back at school. I really hope they like their teachers. I'm excited with the fact that this year they are right across the hall from each other. Class parties will be so much easier this time around. Last year I was walking from one end of the school to the other, trying to spend as much time with each class as I could. It was exhausting, especially with a toddler in tow.
I am also very nervous for G-man. He is in the 4th grade this year, and they have started a pilot program in his school where the 4th & 5th graders switch classes, like middle & high school. They just seem to young for this. But, I should also mention that I think 6th grade should be put back into the elementary schools down here. They are still little kids, and shouldn't be put in a school with teenagers, (hormonally charged ones at that). Also, the middle school and high school students around here ride the same bus at the same time. That means 11 year olds are riding the same bus as 18 year olds! Just thinking about it makes me crazy. Hopefully they will put 6th grade back where it belongs before G-man gets there, (there are talks of this happening), so I won't have to worry quite as much.
In other news, I go tuesday to get my fingerprinting done and schedule my class to become a substitute teacher. It will still probably be a couple of months before I start though, since I also have to wait for a background check to come back. I'll keep y'all posted.

And now a funny for all of my southern friends, (and those who wish you were).........

More Suthen-ism's:
Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't "HAVE" them, you "PITCH" them.
Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess."
Only a Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder."
Only a Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is, . as in: "Going to town, be back directly."
Even Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.
All Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.
Only a Southerner knows instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin!
Only Southerners grow up knowing the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece." They also know that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20.
Only a Southerner, both knows and understands, the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash.
No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.
A Southerner knows that "fixin" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb.
Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines, ... and when we're "in line," . we talk to everybody!
Put 100 Southerners in a room and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage.
In the South, y'all is singular, all y'all is plural.
Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them.
Every Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that red eye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food.
When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin'," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner!
Only true Southerners say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it -- we do not like our tea unsweetened. "Sweet milk" means you don't want buttermilk.
And a true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 MPH on the freeway. You just say,"Bless her heart" ... and go your own way.
To those of you who are still a little embarrassed by your Southerness: Take two tent revivals and a dose of sausage gravy and call me in the morning.
Bless your heart!
And to those of you who are still having a hard time understanding all this Southern stuff, ... bless your hearts, I hear they are fixin' to have classes on Southernness as a second language!
And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, all y'all need a sign to hang on y'alls front porch that reads "I ain't from the South, but I got here as fast as I could."
Southern girls know men may come and go, but friends are fahevah
Now...... Shugah, send this to someone who was raised in the South or wish they had been!
If you're a Northern transplant, Bless your little heart, fake it.
We know you got here as fast as you could.

Got this as an e-mail and loved it. Some of it is soooo true. Bless your heart!

TMI Tuesday

I saw this TMI Tuesday on Lisa's blog, and thought I'd give it a go. Thanks Lis!

1. What is the worst/corniest pick up line someone has used on you and/or you used? I'm sure probably every one has heard this one-"Girl, you must be tired, 'cause you've been runnin through my mind all night!"

2. Have you ever gone out on a date with someone and went home with someone else? Explain. No, but I did exchange phone #'s with a guy I met while out on a (really bad) blind date.

3. What is the worst thing (spread a rumor, hook up with their SO, etc...) that you did to a friend? Did they do anything to deserve it? Nothing that I can think of. I have always kept friend secrets even after the friendship was over. I have had it done to me though. (Lisa, remember Mike B. in high school after I left?)

4. What is your favorite sex scene in a regular movie (not porn)? Why? I really don't know, how about Forest Gump, with Forest and Jenny, that was actually kind of funny.

5. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? What would you change on your SO? That we could both look like we did when we met. We were much cuter back then.

Bonus (as in optional): What countries, other than your own, have you had sex in? Was it someone on the trip with you? Someone from that country? I have only been to Mexico, and I was too young to even think about sex.

Loaded question wednesday

Thanks Michelle for the post idea. These are some strange questions though...........

LOADED QUESTIONS

Hypothetically: If you could project yourself into the past, where would you go? Wow, I'm not sure. My past, or just the past in general? If you want my past, I'd say high school, but I would want to know what I know now. Then I could avoid dating all those losers, along with other stupid mistakes I made.

Now the past in general, maybe the 80's? No, bad fashion. 50's? No, women didn't have enough independents. 1900's? No, I like wearing my jeans, not to mention-I am rather fond of indoor plumbing.

Anything Goes: Fill in the blank- I would eat twenty live cockroaches, if they were covered with __________.

Okay, this one is just too gross to think about. I wouldn't eat one live, (or dead for that matter), cockroach, even if it was covered in the worlds finest chocolate. Forget about 20 of them. eewwww.

No-Brainers: What is your favorite professional sports stadium? Well, since I don't really watch sports on TV, I really don't have a clue on this one. Does Talladaga count?

Personals: On a scale from one to ten, how proficient are you in car repair? Maybe a 5. I can change a tire, check my oil, and other fluids, and fill it up with gas, but that's probably about it. That's what the hubby is for! But I will help him as much as I can.

Nothing

I have nothing to write about.
I was going to do a TMI Tuesday, but I didn't like the questions, so...................
I need to find a good meme to do.
Any suggestions?
The rest of my week should be busy, so if I have time maybe I will have something to post about.
I have to register the boys for school tomorrow.
Thursday my cousin is having a jewelry party, {fun!}.
Friday I might do some school shopping, {tax free weekend!}
Saturday evening is the retirement party for my dad.
Some where in there I will have to find time to do laundry.
Oh yeah, and decorate the cake for dad's party.
My life may not be very exciting, but it stays fairly busy!
How's everyone else's week shaping up?

Fridays Questions

Michelle came through with post ideas, (at least some one helped me out, ha, ha).
So the following are her questions which I will now try to answer.........

My roommate and I once: were best friends, then she turned bitchy and I haven't spoken to her in about 12 years.
Never in my life have I: ummm, there are so many things I could put here. How about "been naked in public"
High school was: some of the best and worst years of my life
When I'm nervous: I bite my fingernails ( I know, gross)
My hair: Is my biggest enemy in the summer
When I was 5: My Daddy was my hero
When I turn my head left: I see myself in the mirror (scary!)
I should be: smarter than what I am
By this time next year: my K-bug will be starting school (sob)
My favorite aunt is: My Mom's baby sister
I have a hard time understanding: how anyone could purposely hurt a child
You know I like you if: I pick on you.....a lot
My ideal breakfast is: I usually don't eat breakfast, but lately I like a strawberry smoothie
If you visit my home town: You'll see there is not a lot to do
If you spend the night at my house: we'll stay up late talking and giggling, (outside so we don't wake up the kiddies)
My favorite blond is: My mom
My favorite brunette is: My K-bug
The animal I would like to see flying besides birds: A giraffe, wouldn't that be interesting
I shouldn't have been: an only child
Last night I: hung out with Kim
A better name for me would be: I'd have to give this one some thought
I've been told I look like: believe it or not, I use to get told that I look like Natalie Wood
If I could have any car, it would be: My fun side would want something sporty. My practical side would say something that seats 7. Do they make one that will do both? (Yeah, probably, but I wouldn't be able to afford the gas or insurance!)

Thanks Michelle, this has been fun. If anyone else wants to send me one of these, then please do. I will try to answer just about any question you can come up with.

Thank you all for your prayers. It has been a rough couple of days, but we are getting through it. My Mom's family, (brothers and sisters), have really pulled together and decided they need to spend more time together while they can. I realized how blessed I am to have the aunts, uncles and cousins that I have, even if some of them are a little strange at times. {smile}***********************************************************************************

Anyway back to posting.

Better now and weekend project

I am feeling a little better today.

I have been cleaning house (again).

With three kids this is a daily chore.

Not that it stays clean for more than 5 minutes.

Hubby has cut way back on his drinking.

Do I dare hope that this is permanent?

No.

But I will enjoy it while it lasts.

Now if I could just get him to spend less time on the computer playing Call of Duty.

Let's see, what else.................

Oh, here are some pics from how I spent the very rainy weekend....................

K-bug loves her mommy and baby bunny. I found the pattern in an old craft magazine, copied two different sized patterns and went to work. This is why I have a ton of scrap fabric, so I can do little projects like this when the mood strikes. Ha ha.
Well, better go make the bug some lunch.
Later y'all!

Not right now

I really don't feel like posting right now. It's raining again, so the kids are stuck inside, (will y'all PLEASE be quiet and stop running through the house!!!!).
I feel like crap.
I am bloated and tired.
Ugggghhhhhh
Will post again later if I feel better, (and not quite so bitchy).

Friday, July 13, 2007

Yeah!!!!!!!!

I am soooo excited, (don't start thinking dirty, I didn't mean it like that), I found out a couple of days ago that I passed my test! 2 weeks ago I took the test to substitute at my kids school this year. Now I need to go get a TB test done, pay for my background check and licence, and get fingerprinted. Hopefully I will be able to start shortly after the boys start school, which is Aug. 8th.
If this works out, meaning if I enjoy it and don't want to run screaming from children by the end of the day, then next year I might try to go back to school. Subbing is a trial run to see if I want to try being a teachers aid, which I would have to have a degree for. I still have another year before K-bug can start K-4 at the boys school, (she will be staying with my Mom on the days I work), so I'll see how it goes this year.
More good news.......my dad only has 2 weeks left until he retires! (again).
He was in the Air Force for my entire childhood. He retired from there when I was 18, and we moved down south, I grew up in Utah.
Now he is an airplane mechanic for a charter plane company. But only for 2 more weeks! Can you tell I'm excited?
I am looking forward to getting to see him more often. And K-bug will get to spend lots of time with her Paw paw when ever I am working. I remember how it was when I was little and we'd spend the day together, so I know how much fun it'll be for K-bug. Maybe I'm biased, but I do have The Best Dad In The World. ha ha.
Okay, I hear y'all gagging from my mushyness, so I'll be going now.............Later!

What gives?

So I made my blog private so that I could bitch and whine about stuff and not have to worry about family members reading it, right?
And now.....everything is going pretty good.
So I have nothing to bitch about.
This is so rare.
Maybe I should have done this a while ago.
What did I expect to be ranting about, you might ask.........
well, Hubby likes to drink beer........a lot of beer....everyday.
I told him I think he is an alcoholic, but he denies it.
Well, duh
But the last 3 days he has only drank a little.
Usually he get pretty drunk by bedtime.
Maybe he's on his way back to quitting drinking for a while.
He quit last year for almost 2 months, but then went right back to getting drunk daily.
I don't have anything against alcohol, even though I rarely drink.
But living with someone who drinks to get drunk practically every night is really hard.
Especially with small children in the house.
Say a prayer please, that maybe he's taking a break for a while, or better yet, for good.
Life with him drunk is hard.
Life with him sober reminds me why I married him.

Since I'm awake, I might as well write

So I had this really funny, (well to me anyway), post floating around in my head this morning while I was laying in bed trying to go back to sleep.
Of course the second I get on the computer it floats away.
Well darn.
Speaking of stuff floating in my head, the little voice in my head has decided to be British this morning.
Maybe it did some kind of vacation swap like in the movie the holiday.
Okay, let me explain.......If you are familiar with the show scrubs then you'll get this, otherwise.......I carry on conversations in my head, like J.D. on the show scrubs. I'm talkin entire conversations.
Yes, I am weird.
I accept that.
Plus, I'm not use to being up this early on a Saturday.
It's hubby's fault.
He woke me up and now I can't get back to sleep.
Stupid boy.
He'll be so at the top of my " I do not like you" list before the day is over......I just know it. Uggghhhhhhh
Now that I got that out of my system I think I'll go read some, see if it will make me sleepy.........

Friday, July 6, 2007

Now I just need something to rant about

okay, so here is the reason I wanted to make this private. I want to feel free to write what ever I want with out having to worry about who might read it. You know, like family members, meaning my in-laws, and sometimes even my husband. Well really, I don't care if he reads it, but I'm not going to be going out-of-my-way to give him my password to read it. LOL. After all, he will probably be who or what I will be ranting about most of the time.
**************************************************************************************

Surprisingly, I have nothing to rant about today-so far. Give me some time though, I am sure to come up with something. It's still early in the day.
And such a beautiful, albeit HOT, day it is. Maybe a day free of rain? One can only hope. It has been raining daily for about a week now. I know we need it, but I am sick of being cooped up in the house with these children! Especially since they don't think my game of lets clean house all that fun......They would rather play.......I just don't get it.........aaannnyyywwwaaayyy
I guess I can't blame them. I would rather be stretched out somewhere cool reading a good book than cleaning this doesn't-stay-clean-for-more-than-five-minutes house either. Wow, now there is a run-on sentence for the record books, huh.
Oh well, lunch isn't going it fix itself, ( darn it!), and the little animals are starting to growl in hunger, so I guess I'd better go...............

Oh yeah, I hope everyone had a great 4th!!!!!!!

Slowly getting there

I have a really good excuse for not posting lately, our computer has been down for a few days. So please, anyone that has e-mailed me with their e-mail addresses for an invite, please send it again. I hope to have everything changed by next week. Thank you to all of y'all who have commented about wanting an invite. Y'all are great, and I promise to get this ball rolling as soon as I have the time to do it.

Thinking of going private

Hey y'all. I am thinking about making this blog private, or else starting another blog and making it private. Who ever wants an invite, please send me your e-mail address to I can add you.
There has been a lot on my mind lately that I have wanted to write about, but I don't want everyone in the world to be able to read. That's why I am thinking about changing my blog.
Please let me know soon in the comments section or e-mail me.
Thanks, Manda

Peaches and stuff

Yes, I know I promised I would try to blog more, but I have a really good excuse....no really, I do. I have spent the week making peach jam. 36 jars of peach jam to be exact. From peaches off our peach tree in our back yard. Also I made 8 loaves of bread today. Okay, you can call me "Suzy homemaker" now....I can take it. I still have a basket full of peaches and another couple of dozen still on the tree......peach pie anyone? LOL. Seriously, people around here need to get to eating peaches before they go bad. But don't look at me to eat them, I'm sick of looking at them for a while.

We have also been busy cleaning up our yard. Hubby finally got the cleaning bug after seeing how good the yard was starting to look after all the old trucks were gone. So now we are clearing out the shed and the garage and loading all the junk on a trailer to take to the dump. Then we should have more storage room for bikes and outdoor toys in the shed and Hubby will actually be able to find his tools and stuff in the garage. Yeah!!!!!! Once the outside cleaning is done we'll finish going through the house room by room. Good bye clutter!

The cake was yummy

First of all, here are pictures of the cake I did for the boys soccer party. It didn't turn out to bad so I thought I'd share.

This is a side view of the cake so y'all can see how the soccer ball looks like it fell into the middle of the cake. Hey, at least it tasted good. Now please tell me I don't have to make, (or EAT), any more cake for a while. My butt can't handle it! LOL

I have been busy today so this post will be short. Like I am known for writing these llllooooonnnnngggggg posts in the first place, right? Anyway, like I said I have been busy. My bff gave me a bunch of clothes for the boys that her boys have out grown. So that meant I had to go through all of my boys clothes to clean out what they had out grown. It was well over due. I was able to get rid of 4 boxes of clothes. Next on the list is their toys. They will have to be gone some where for me to get that done. "No mom, not that, that's my FAVORITE toy in the whole world" (even though I haven't played with it in years).
At least I did get Bugs room done today. Lots of clothes and toys to go to a couple of friends of mine with baby girls. I guess now that summers here I am in the mood to do my spring cleaning, LOL.
Well y'all, I'd better get back to it. It sounds like my dryer just stopped, so it's time for the next load. And then still so much to do after that.
Later.

A bit of life, and a bit of gossip

So tonight is our soccer team party at a place called Blue Rabbits Paradise. For those of you not familiar with it, it is kind of like Chucky Cheese but more modern. Right now I am baking my second cake for the week, the first was for Boos b-day. Hopefully this one will turn out cute so that I can share pics of it.

The kids are all inside today due to all the rain. I know we need it, but why can't it wait to rain between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am when we are asleep?! Oh well, I will just have to find something to keep them busy and out of my way while I decorate the cake. Hopefully Bug won't decide to snatch a big chunk out of the corner of this one like she did the b-day cake.

So how about some recent gossip on my neighbors? Sure, sounds like fun.
Hubby has had to call the cops about a dozen times on our 18 year old neighbor for speeding down our dead end street to his house, (he lives at the dead end). After about 6 months of this the county has put up a speed limit sign across the street from our house. The funny thing is there are only 6 houses on our street, 3 on each side, and I haven't seen any other speed limit signs anywhere in the neighborhood. At least it seems to be working.

In other news......Our young couple neighbors, who have been divorced from each other twice, are apparently dating each other again. They have one son together and another on the way. Is the baby his? I guess only time will tell.

And I guess thats all today on the neighbors. Like I said, it has calmed down a lot around here.

I'm back.......

Okay, so things have FINALLY settled down around here. The kids are on summer break. Soccer season is over, (except for the team party), and Boos birthday is almost over, (his b-day is today), and has already been celebrated. Now I just have to figure out how to entertain them for the next couple of months. Ahhhh! No, not really, actually they spend a lot of time playing outside, and my mom doesn't live far from here so we will usually go over there about once a week.

Not really a lot going on for me to blog about, which is another reason why I haven't been blogging. I guess I have a really boring life. Well, at least to the readers out there I probably do.

I am hoping to get the boys report cards by the end of the week. SCARY. I know boos will be good since I have already seen most of his grades. It's G-mans that I am nervous about. It was kind of a tough school year for him, plus he figured out how to do just enough to get by and pass with a C instead of really working hard for an A or a B. He is definitely my son. And now I am getting paid back just like my parents said I would. LOL.

So I hope everyone had a great long weekend. We had our final soccer game sat. which our team won. Then sat afternoon we went to RockyCreek Catfish restaurant for dinner to celebrate Boos b-day/end of soccer/end of school. The BEST catfish ever! Its right across the border into Mississippi and about 40 min. from where we live. We all, (my parents came with us), came home stuffed. Yes even all 3 kids ate catfish and a lot of it.
Sunday Hubbys baby-brother, (he's 21), came over for hot wings and we just hung out and watched a movie on tv.
Monday Hubby had to work, (insert sad face here), so the kids and I went mini grocery shopping, cleaned house, and did laundry.

See, I told you it's pretty boring around here, and I think I like it that way. The last few years there has been so much drama in our neighborhood that I could write a soap opera. It's nice to be able to enjoy the boring quite now.

I hope everyone has a great week back at work. And I will try to get better at posting just in case anyone decides to visit.

Yes I know I haven't posted in a while. Now that I am back in soccer mom mode it is hard to find the time.

Thursday G-man and I went on a field trip. I can sum it up in one word-Boooorrrrriiiinnngggg.
What 3rd grader wants to go on a field trip to learn about a volcano that destroyed a part of Greece in 1647 B.C. ? Even if it is at the IMAX. The only part they really enjoyed was the hands on activity room in the museum. They got to try out how pulleys worked, center of gravity, magnets, and even what it is like to be on the news. But the movie, most of the kids, (and even adults), took a nap. Oh yeah, they loved going to the park afterward for lunch. And thankfully, they wore themselves out for the bus ride back to the school.

Friday, (today), I went to their school for field day. Some of y'all might know this as May day. The students have races and a tug-of-war for ribbons. Boo got two first place ribbons, two second place ribbons, and one third. I was so excited for him! G-mans had to be rescheduled for next monday, so I'll let y'all know then how he does. They split the kids up for field day. K-2nd does theirs in the morning, and 3rd-5th does theirs in the afternoon, but they got rained out today which is why it was rescheduled.

Tomorrow, (saturday), the boys have a soccer game, weather permitting. Then I have to catch up on house work, do laundry, and possibly cook a real meal.

Busy, busy me. LOL.

Okay, so I was reading Lisa's blog earlier and she had posted about her angel babies. Reading it made me think about my own, as well as friends and family members that have had miscarriages. No matter how long or short of a time you may be pregnant for, it is always heartbreaking to lose a baby. Anyway, I have decided to share my story.

When Boo was about 2 1/2 I started have pregnancy symptoms. I was on the pill. We were not planing on another baby just yet. Hubby and I had talked about maybe trying one more time for a girl, but this was unexpected. So I took a home test, and it was positive. I cried, was I really ready for another baby so soon? G-man and Boo are only 21 months apart. Hubby was excited and told everyone, even though I asked him not to. Something was different about this pregnancy. I was having A LOT of pain on my right side around my hip bone area.
I went to the doctor, their test was positive, but my doctor was concerned about my pain and my low hormone level. I had an ultrasound, couldn't find the fetus, but "maybe it is still to early", I was told. This was on a monday. I had to come back wendesday for more blood work. Before I got the results back I started bleeding heavily. Test results-hormone level was dropping instead of rising. Received my shot for being Rh-. Came back for blood tests every two days to check hormone levels so they would know if I needed a D&C.

In a weeks time I found out I was pregnant, that it was ectopic, (in the fallopian tube), and miscarried. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions. Suddenly a baby I wasn't sure I was even ready for was gone. And I often wonder "what if...."

But wait, it gets worse.....My hormones were out of whack, I was depressed about losing the baby, and I was still in unimaginable pain. Hubby finally took me to the ER about a week later because I was either curled up in the fetal position crying from the pain or walking around biting every ones heads off. From their they sent me to get a kidney scan. Yes I told them about the ectopic, but the way the pain was radiating to my back, they wanted to be on the safe side and rule out kidney problems.

After about a month the pain finally went away. I can't even describe it, except maybe to tell you that I have had all 3 on my children with no epidural, and I would have ten more that way if it guaranteed me never having another ectopic. It was the worst pain of my life.

Late November of that year Hubby and I decided that maybe now was the right time for one more. We both realized how much we wanted a third child. And I believe Bug was conceived on New Years of that year.

I know my story is mild compared to some. I am blessed with three beautiful children. And the baby I lost could never have been since it had never made it all the way to my uterus. But it still hurts even now.

So to all of you who have lost a baby, in some small way I do understand. And I pray God blesses all of you.

How I spent spring break

Since y'all asked for it, here are the pictures of the chalkboard closet doors I did for Boo's room.

Of course, they are no longer this clean! LOL. They have had a blast drawing all over these doors. And as you can see, I even tried it out.

And this is the border that I finally got done on the side of our garage, (which really needs to be painted). The large plants are hot pink crape myrtles with variegated monkey grass in between. Now I just have to wait for the grass to grow back around it.
This was my favorite project. I love getting my hands dirty out in my flower beds. I will post more pictures as I complete more projects. : ) On the right lower half of the picture is my neighbors back yard fence. The stuff growing out of it is actually soft pink climbing roses. I will take pictures when they bloom so y'all can see what a difference all that color makes. Hopefully all of the grass around the border will have grown back by then!
