Our Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas. Ours was great. We went WAY overboard this year, but it was sooo worth it. I am and only child, and both my parents worked when I was a kid, so I was always pretty well spoiled on Christmas. This year we were actually able to do that for our kids. And yes, I know that it's not about the stuff or how much of it, but it was really cool to be able to do it this year. Who knows if we ever will be able to again? We got a 4-wheeler for the three of them to share, plus countless toys and games. New jammies that they opened Christmas Eve, and bikes from Mawmaw and Pawpa. Oh, and Bug got the Baby Alive that pees and poops, (yes....gross...I know).
The Hubby did very well for me this year. Since we've had kids if he does get me anything, he'll give money to one of my friends to go pick me something out. This year he got me both things I've been wanting.... a Wii and an embroidery machine, anybody need anything monogrammed? But the best part was the fact that he made an actual effort and went and shopped for me. See, sometimes he can be wonderful. The Wii has really made a great family toy. We have all been bowling or playing golf since I hooked it up last night. We even had a 5 hour, (I know, right), tournament last night bowling with my brother-in-law and my BFF, (his girlfriend).
All in all it's been an awesome holiday. I loved seeing how happy my kids were yesterday morning, and still are as they enjoy all their new stuff.

After opening presents, and riding the four-wheeler for a while, we headed over to my parents to open more presents and eat her delicious food. I got to bring home left-overs, so I won't be cooking for a couple of days!
I hope y'all had a great Christmas too, and got to spend time with family and/or friends.

My crazy week.....

I am soooo tired. Today has been my only day off this week and I spent it Christmas shopping. I subbed 5th grade all week, and let me just tell y'all, I don't want to do that again for a while! By Thursday I was ready to pull my hair out. Or duck tape their mouths shut! Most of them are good kids, they just don't know when to shut up.
I've got the teacher gifts taken care of. I found some plastic baskets at the Dollar Tree, I figured they can use them in class after, and in them I am putting a bottle of body wash, Avon hand lotion and chap stick, a crystal ornament, sample size perfume, and some home-make peanut clusters. I'll take them up to the school Wednesday when they have their class parties, I will also be working that day in Bug's class.
Then she has a field trip Thursday to the Mall to see Santa. And Friday is their last day for the year. I can't believe they get out almost a week before Christmas and don't go back until January 6th. At least they'll have new stuff to keep them entertained.
As for my Christmas shopping, all I have left is one more thing for my kids, something for my parents, maybe something for the Hubby, (he's already bought stuff for himself, so.....), and some gift cards for our friends kids.
Tomorrow, (no promises), I will try to post pics of the Christmas lights, and Bug and Boo in their Christmas program from last Tuesday night at school.
Only 12 shopping days left.......Happy Shopping!!!

Christmas Shopping........

Well it's that wonderful time of year again......Christmas shopping. I didn't go on black Friday.....I just can't deal with the crowds, no matter how good the sale. I'm almost done shopping for my kids, (thank you e-bay!!!), Now I need to get for everyone else on my list. I'm trying to decide if I should buy for all my kids teachers, or just the main ones. Let me explain....G-man has 3 teachers, (reading, math, and science), Boo has 2 teachers, (math, everything else), and Bug has 2 teachers, (teacher and teachers aid). That's a total of 7 teachers! I want to scale it down to 4, but I feel like I'm being rude to the other 3 if I don't give them something as well, after all, they teach my children too. Besides, G-man see's his 3 teachers an equal amount of time everyday, so I don't feel right about leaving 2 of them out. Any advice on inexpensive gifts that I can give these seven ladies would be most helpful and appreciated.........

I finally got a pre-lit tree this year :-). The kids and I got it all decorated yesterday, and the hubby and I hung up lights outside today. I will try to take some pics tonight to post.

Y'all pray for me next week please!!! I will have 5th graders Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I really hope they don't give me a hard time. Especially having to deal with them 3 days in a row. I'll let y'all know how it goes. Speaking of subbing, I worked last Thursday and had a run in with the most disrespectful 9 year old I've ever met. 10 minutes into class I told him to get all his stuff together because he was not coming back in there that day, and took him to the office. At least I do realize, and let the kids know, that I don't have to put up with their crap. I will say this though, I really wanted to knock his teeth down his throat....thank God for self control.

Facebook has taken over my life......

.....seriously, I rarely visit this blog anymore except to read y'alls posts. I wonder if their is a facebookers anonymous meeting somewhere....yeah, probably on FACEBOOK.

Really, I just haven't had the time to sit here and think up a post. It's easier to type out a quick one-liner about what I'm doing "right now", and then go about my day. Only problem is that I do that several times a day.
I have pictures to prove that I've been busy......

This is the Thanksgiving feast that we had in Bug's class the Monday before.
Wasn't she a cute little pilgrim?
Half the kids were pilgrims and half were indians. The costumes turned out really well, and so did all the food!LOL.

My sweet baby girl has been riding her bike w/o training wheels for a week now! I am so proud of her, and also, so sad. That was the last of my babies to take off on two wheels...:-(

It only took her about ten minutes to get her balance good....then she was gone.

Getting ready for the big game. I made her a cheerleader costume last week after I couldn't find one her size in the store. I wish Hubby would have taken a better picture of her in it.

The three little bama fans practicing their tackling skills.

"What Mom, I'm just watchin' Auburn get spanked..."

Me: "Don't take my picture while I'm eating!!!"

The Iron Bowl Saturday was awesome! (36-0 baby) We had some friends over to eat and watch the game. It was fun, but would have been better had it been a pretty day instead of the all-day-long-rain.
I know all the Auburn fans will be going for Florida next Saturday...we'll just have to wait and see how it goes....

Have you hugged a Veteran today? I did. I love you Dad.

A funny Bug story

As Bug was walking barefoot across the yard to tell her Grandparents goodbye, she kept stepping on acorns that had fallen from our trees.......

"Ouch, squirrel nuts, ouch, squirrel nuts,...." she said repeatedly as she walked.........As for the rest of us, we all burst out laughing. It was so innocent on her part. And, after all, the squirrels do eat the acorns, so why not call them "squirrel nuts"?

A second post in one day, what will people think?

I just remembered that I also wanted to post pics of Halloween night, so I decided to just do another post.

Bug as Tinkerbell and my neice as Red Ridding Hood.
Boo, Bug, neighbor kid, G-man, and my neice.
She still looks sweet in between two gouls.

Sorry y'all, I just really haven't felt like being on here lately. Last week was so busy with Halloween and field trip stuff going on. And then Thursday night my Aunt passed away. She was batteling her second go round with breast cancer. In early September we found out it had moved into her liver and bones. It's been really hard to accept how fast it all happened. It still just doesn't seem real that she is gone. I am so thankful that at least I have a few things here to remember her by.

Anyway, I'm trying to get back into this whole blogging thing. I wanted to at least get some pics up of the kids trick-or-treating, so here ya go..........
Bug and some of her classmates getting ready to trick-or-treat in the 3rd and 4th grade rooms.

Boo already had which pieces of candy he was going to give his little sister, how sweet!

She made such a cute little Tinkerbell.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. Now it's on to the holidays. Aaaggghhhh, I am soooo not ready. Our local Wal-mart was already playing Christmas music on Nov. 1st. Does it seem like stores cram Christmas down our throats earlier and earlier every year? Or is it just me that feels that way?

enough with the freaking projects already

I soooo suck at blogging lately, but then again when do I ever blog in a timely manner?
Things have been busy around here. Both of the boys have book reports due soon, plus G-man has a science project to do. K-bug has a field trip on Halloween day. We are going to a petting zoo and pumpkin patch. After I will take the kids to Maw maws to get in their costumes and get candy from her and from her neighbor. Then it's home to eat dinner, wait for some friends to come over, and off trick-or-treating we will go. By the time it's all over Halloween night I will probably pass out in my bed from total exhaustion. LOL.

Anyway, so I am alive and well. I will try to find more time to get on the computer. Y'all can help me out with this by sending me some memes and post ideas. Unless you want full details of me babysitting, subbing, or just loosing it over the next book report/project my kids have to do.

Love y'all and take care!!!!!!

Holy crap, I have a blog (now with pictures)

So it's been like a month since I've posted.....I guess it's about time to update this thing.

I've made a new friend at the school, but I'm not sure how friendly I want to be. Her daughter is in Bugs class and they have become friends. The Mom on the other hand...she's a nice person, but a little on the pushy side. You know , one of those kind of people who doesn't have many friends because they just try WAY to hard? Yeah, like that. After she flipped out over a minor issue at the school and went to the school board, I've been trying to keep my distance without being rude. I didn't think the issue was a big deal and didn't want to get involved in the action she felt she needed to take-although she did try to get me to go to the school board with her. I didn't want to "rock the boat" when I am standing in the middle of it. I do want to be able to continue working up there, and wasn't going to jeopardise that over something so minor.

K-bugs birthday was a week ago yesterday. I had a party for her in her class room, (really all I did was take in some cupcakes, drinks, and gift bags), which she really enjoyed. Then on Friday night we had my parents over for dinner, cake, and presents.

I worked in her class Monday and Tuesday of this week. I love working in the K-4 room. Her teacher and I really get along well and have a good time when I'm there.

Remember the finger I smashed that I talked about in my last post? Well I tried to cut the end of it off last week. My Mom gave me some 4x4 tin tiles that she had left over after installing a back splash in her kitchen. I decided to install them behind my stove. My Mom warned me to "be careful, there sharp". There is a warning with the tiles-"handle with care, sharp edges". And I really was careful, but my hand slipped anyway, and I cut a nice, deep gash in my finger. I had to call my neighbor to bandage it for my. At least I didn't need stitches. So in three months I have managed to drop a huge tool box on my foot, smash and now cut my finger. What's next? Maybe soon my husband will realize how accident prone I am and start helping out more. Yeah, right!

So all this and the normal daily demand of 3 kids and house work and Saturday football, (Go Alabama, Roll Tide!!!), have been keeping me busy.

Tuesday evening brought bad news-my aunt M, my Dad's sister, has been going through chemo for her second go round with breast cancer. She ended up in the hospital a couple of weeks ago, after a few days they sent her home. She went back to the hospital last week, and by the way she was acting we suspected the cancer had spread. They got the test results yesterday. She's completely eaten up with cancer. I'm so worried about her, and how much time she might have left. I'm worried about my Dad, and how he's going to handle it. And there are so many other issues mixed in that I can't even get into, because it would take forever. The short version involves their other siblings and forgiveness before it's too late. All I can do now is pray.

Much better today

I just got back from the hospital a short while ago. Everything went great with my Uncle, and he is doing fine, thank you all for your prayers. They only did the neck part of the surgery. No word yet on when they will do the artery to his kidney. I'm just happy everything is fine for now. I was really worried about my poor Aunt G. She is the baby of a large family, and doesn't handle stress very well, but she is doing very well too.

In other news.....I seem to have it in for myself here lately. Last Thursday I dropped a tool box on my foot. You know, one of those really big ones that go in the bed of a truck. Go ahead and say it...I'm a genius. I didn't break anything, but it hurt like hell for a few days. Well, this morning while cleaning up Boo's room I managed to slam my finger in the closet, (damn WD40), I forgot how well it slides now and pushed it a little too hard with my finger in the way. Now it's twice it's size and purple and also hurts like hell. You should see me trying to type without screaming in pain, lol. I think I need to just stay in bed so that I won't hurt myself, yeah like that would/could happen.

So far so good, and maybe bad

Well, we came through the storm okay. We mainly got a lot of wind and rain. Lots and lots of rain. They kept the schools closed today, since they had used some of them for shelters, but they will be open tomorrow. Yeah, I'm soooo glad the kids will be back at school tomorrow. My house needs to be cleaned bad after this 4 day weekend, lol.
Thanks y'all for your comments, it is so appreciated. It does help get me through the rough days knowing that I have an outlet here, and so many awesome women that I can share with.

Tomorrow after I take the short people to school I will be going over to the hospital to spend the day with my Mom and a couple of Aunts, ( and who knows who else). My Uncle is having surgery to unblock the arteries in his neck and a major artery to his kidneys. It's very dangerous surgery and they are not sure what his chances are for even making it through the surgery. The doctors said that they were surprised he hadn't had a stroke or heart attack yet. I have a step-cousin-in-law, ( what a mouthful), that is a critical care nurse. She said she believes the reason they did not do the surgery right away, (last week), was to give him time with his family in case he does not make it. So it really doesn't sound good. If y'all would, please keep them in your prayers. I have a feeling it's going to be a long, scary day.

Thanks again. I will post again as soon as I can and let y'all know how everything goes.

Hurricane?

I know I'm slacking on this whole blogging thing. And I know I keep saying I will do better, then I don't. So I will just go ahead and say it...I suck. I just can't seem to find the time, then when I do, I can't think of anything to write about. I can only bitch about the husband so much before it gets to be monotonous, (wow, look at that, I used a big word, LOL). I can't really say too much about subbing...privacy issues and all. I really don't think y'all want to hear about my laundry. Oh, BTW, my washing machine died a week ago Friday, but I did get a new/used one this past Thursday, yeah me! I guess I could tell y'all about how we've been spending our holiday getting things ready around here "just in case." That nasty ol' hurricane could still jump to the east, and put it a whole lot closer our way. I can't wait till hurricane season is over! Right now with where it's headed we should only get tropical force winds and rain. The coast is whats really going to get it, but we're about 1 1/2 hours inland. But I did want to take this minute to let you know that we could loose power, and so I WON'T be able to blog, but I promise to give y'all an update on everything as soon as I can.
To anyone on the Gulf coast reading this....stay safe, and our prayers are with you.
And lots of love to all the rest of you!!!!!

Board and boaring

Well, we've got one week of school under our belts. K-bug seems to be adjusting well, she only cried the first couple of days. I have already had my first subbing job. I worked yesterday afternoon for one of G-man's teachers, (he has 3 teachers), and will be working for her half a day next Wednesday as well. The fourth and fifth grades are still trying the whole switching classes again this year. I think it works well when the 3 teachers can get along. They did it last year, but had to stop early on with the 5th grade because the teachers didn't seem to like each other. This year we have two new 5th grade teachers.

Anyway, things have been a little crazy with me getting use to all 3 kids being in school. Today I decided to make homemade bread. I still have about 20 mins. rise time before I have to cut the dough in rolls. It's almost an all day process, but the end result is so worth it. I'll make between 55 and 60 rolls, and they will probably be all eaten up by the weekend!

I'm sorry about the boring rambling post today. To much crap going on in my head that I just can't put out there right now. The husband is just........UGH!!! If he could just stay at work and us communicate strictly by phone I think things would be a lot better. Either that or I might just have to shove a beer can where the sun don't shine.

The first day of school!

Well, I just come home a little while ago from taking the kids to school. Yes, all THREE of them. K-bug and I both did good, neither one of us cried, (I really expected her to). This the first time in ten years that I have had 8 full hours to myself everyday. It's kind of surreal. I have all this time on my hands to get stuff done and I don't even know where to begin. Maybe now I can be a better blogger at least. I think I'm going to like the boys teachers. I hope so, it makes the school year so much easier. I know I like the K-4 teacher, as I've said before, she and I are good friends. I know my baby is in good hands. Today is also G-mans 10th birthday. I have one baby in his last year of elementary school, and one baby just getting started. I'd better stop thinking about that or I really will start to cry....LOL. I will post school pics and others as soon as I figure out this camera, (no, I still haven't done that).
I hope everyone has a great day. It's raining cats and dogs here, so I'm staying inside and maybe get some cleaning done. I hope this weather clears up by this afternoon, I hate driving in the rain!!! Bye for now.

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!! We plan on cooking out with friends, (yea, I get to see my baby Stacey), and watching the neighbors do fireworks, (weather permitting), or else watching them on TV. I've heard they do an awesome firework show over the bay at the Battleship, but it's too far to drive with so many crazy people on the roads, especially since there is a chance of it getting rained out.

BTW, I'm sorry I haven't been answering comments. I promise I am not trying to ignore y'all, and I do thank y'all for leaving comments, I do love reading them. So I will try to answer some now........

ANB-Hubby first intended the chickens be for food, but then discovered he no longer has the heart to butcher them. But, I no longer have to buy eggs, because we do get plenty of them.

PD-I guess I found my redneck roots, huh? Really, I'm happy that I can do a lot of the stuff I do because of how much money it saves. My living room furniture was old and looking worn out, but there is no way we could have afforded to get new stuff.

Flat-Thank you for all your comments. I really enjoy reading your blog. Oh, and we ended up getting rid of our dogs since one of them did kill about four of Hubby's chickens and has since been on a chain, meaning we then had two dogs on chains which was no life for either of them, and dog food was costing us so much since they were both larger dogs.
Also, I will try to stop "stalking" your blog and try to comment once in a while, LOL.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!!!!

Bad blogger, bad, bad blogger

I know, I know, I'm a bad blogger. But I have been crazy busy lately. I made slip covers for our couch and an over sized chair w/ ottoman, (that we just got from my aunt and uncle). I love the way they turned out. I will post pics just as soon as the hubby shows me how to put them on the computer off the new camera.

I have also been working on my yard as much as possible when the weather lets me. I know a lot of y'all are getting these same crappy rain storms that we are. The good news....the rain is helping our grass grow, the bad news.......the rain is making the grass grow. I'm getting sick of cutting the freaking grass, not to mention it costs a small fortune because of gas prices. But if we don't cut it every weekend I'm afraid I might loose one of my kids out there.

The hubby got rid of our dogs. It broke his heart, but they had no kind of life stuck on a chain all the time. And they really didn't get a lot of attention except when they got fed. Now the hubby lets the chickens run around our back yard in the evenings after he gets home from work. It's true redneck entertainment watching the chickens run around chasing each other. Again, I promise pictures...soon.

Well, it's late, I'm going to bed.....'night all!

Most Haunted

So Punch Drunks post a few days ago got me thinking....scary right?......anyway, so I found a web site where you can look up the state you live in and find haunted places in your area. It's really interesting at the very least. So if you are into this sort of thing, and have nothing better to do, it's fun to check out. BTW PD, there are several listed in your area!

Have a great weekend!!!

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.....

A while back I changed the template on my blog, and when I did I lost a lot of stuff, including most of my archives. So today I decide to change it up again, lost a bunch of stuff...again...., and now suddenly all, and I mean ALL of my archives are back. Before I wasn't getting anything before this year. Now I can read my very first post.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.......computers confuse the hell out of me.

I can't believe my Boo is now 8 years old!
Here is a picture of the B-day boy, G-man, and K-Bug.

This is Boo blowing out his candles.

Yummy, chocolate on chocolate cake.

We had a really good time. My parents came over for dinner, ( I made home made pizza's), and cake and ice cream. Boo opened his presents, which he got quite a few of, then we all went out side to play with one of them. We got him this really cool Frisbee that's just a ring shape, (open in the middle). We had a blast throwing it to one another in the front yard. Then we ended up playing monkey in the middle with the 2 boys on our street that our boys play with. I really think a good time was had by all.

I was right on time......

Yes I really am still alive

Yes, it has been almost forever since I have been on here. Things are FINALLY starting to settle down. I ended up taking over a first grade class at my kids school for the last 4 weeks of the school year while the teacher was on maternity leave. And let me just say want a bunch these kids were. And I don't mean that in a good way. I am sooooo glad it's over. And soccer season is over now too, so I finally have time to think straight. Of course I am still busy as ever, but at least I am at home. Now it's just a matter of getting my house and yard in order. Once it's done, and I figure out how to load the pics off of our new camera onto the computer, (or get hubby to do it), I will post some pics.

Boo had his 8th b-day last week. I can't believe he is 8 already. We had my parents over for homemade pizzas, b-day cake and ice cream. He got some really cool presents, including a skate board, (how stupid am I?).

Anyhoo.....here are some soccer pics to look at as proof that I really have been too busy to blog.

The first one is of the boys getting their trophies, they got 3rd place.

The second one is a shot of us parents, that's me in the green shirt.

The third is a shot of G-man in the yellow and black.

And for Lis, a couple pics of the Hubbys chickens.
I hope y'all haven't forgotten about me and will still come around for a visit!!!!!

Yeah, I have a ride!

Yeah!!!!! I finally got a new ride. Actually I will have had it a week tomorrow. It's an older van, but it drives like a dream. And it seats 7, so now we can actually go places with other people, like my parents, and not have to take two cars. I am loving it. And so are my kids.

It has been crazy around here still, again, always....lol. The boys soccer game got rained out Saturday, so I spent it cleaning and doing tons of laundry. Who knew 5 people could wear so many clothes in a weeks time? That's what I get for putting it off for a week. Sunday we went over to the University for a soccer festival. We got to watch the college game and then the kids got to do different soccer activities and play games. The best part was all the free crap we came home with. They had a blast. Sunday night my friend came over with her baby, the one that turned a year old in January that I made the cake for. The baby was really congested and seemed to be having a hard time breathing. The mom had taken her to the doctor earlier that day and they gave the baby a breathing treatment, but she was sounding really bad again by that evening so we ended up taking her to the ER. To make a long story short, they ended up keeping her because it turned out she had pneumonia. Poor baby and mom had a rough night. I stayed until 12:30 when I called my wonderful Dad to come get me and take me home. I would have stayed all night if it wasn't for school and hubby having to work Monday. Mom and baby are now doing fine and got to come home yesterday.

Hope every ones week has been good so far!

Saturday, March 22, 2008

Ugh.....what a week

I'm sorry I have been MIA all week. It has been crazy. Tuesday I had to work. My mom watched K-bug for me that day. So after school the boys and I were on our way to pick her up, I was stopped at an intersection waiting for traffic to clear so that I could make a right when suddenly I was rear-ended. We were all okay, and I was still able to make it to my mom's, but my car is totally screwed up. So now I have to find a CHEAP, but reliable car that we all can fit in......fuuuunnnnn. It really pisses me off because I didn't do anything wrong. Now because of some 18 year old chick on a cell phone I have to get another car, and I CANNOT afford a car note, and my 9 year old car isn't worth much, and insurance will only give us 75% of the cars worth! Okay, sorry, I had to vent. I will try to post pictures soon.

*update....this is what the back end of my car now looks like. Notice how the trunk lid is touching the back window, any harder and G-man would have been covered in glass and very possibily hurt.

In other news....yesterday was my 33rd birthday. And let me just say I have great friends. One conned me out of the house so that my bff could fill my house with huge helium balloons, a cake, and even presents. Plus I spent the day shopping with my Mom and got some really cute clothes......totally awesome day! Again, I will post pictures soon.

*These are the shirts that I got. I know what y'all are thinking so "no, I'm not pregnant." They do look a lot like maternity tops though.

I also got two pair of pant for work, plus a pair of Old Navy jeans that I don't have a picture of because I am wearing them now.

I told the hubby that he bought me the shoes. They are to go with the lawn mower he got me, (don't ask, it's another post for another time).

The necklace and birthstone earrings are from my BFF.

These are some of the balloons and the flowers they gave me. Sorry, no pics of the cake. We cut into it before I thought to take pictures.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!!!!!
