So Erin had this great idea of supporting Rachael by getting bloggers together to write controversial, yet positive posts. Rachael lost her daughter Hannah in a tragic drowning accident last month. She has been blogging about it as a way of therapy, but has gotten some very negative feedback because of it. My heart breaks for Rachael and her family. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to loose a child. I don't think any of us could unless we've been there. And even then, we all deal with our grief in different ways. Us mom's, (and yes, even dad's), need to stick together and support one another. So, even though I didn't sign on to have my post linked through Erin, I am writing the following in honor of Hannah and for her Mom, Rachael.
When K-bug was a new born, Boo was 3 and G-man was 5. It was November of 2003, the weekend after Halloween. It all sticks in my head so clearly still. K-bug was napping inside, while Hubby and I were sitting out front enjoying the warm day and listening to the kids play next door. Our two families were close, and I kids were back and forth at each others houses all the time. Boo was in there back yard playing with their little girl his age. They had a small fire going in the back yard, (this is common for this area), but there were adults out there at all times. Well, almost. Apparently, everyone over there had went inside for all of a minute. Boo took this opportunity, (he has always been a little curious, or maybe sneaky is a better word), and found some spray paint cans the man next door had hid until he could dispose of them. Boo took one of the paint cans and through it in the fire. He was only a couple of feet from it, facing it, when it blew up. Hubby and I heard the loud boom and then the screaming, and knew it was one of ours. We took off running next door. When I saw my baby, the top of his forehead and head covered in black, I thought I would go crazy. I was so scared. My neighbor scooped him up and was bring him to Hubby while I hit my knees and started begging God to let him be okay. Someone got me up off the ground, sat me down on an ice chest and laid Boo across my lap. We were running cool water from the hose across his face, trying to see what damage had been down. Looking back now, it might not have been the smartest thing to do, but it was something. I'm not sure who called 911, but suddenly they were there. The took Boo and put him in the ambulance. One EMT came out and told me I could ride with him, but I HAD to calm down first. I sat back there with him, talking to him, trying to keep him conscious. I didn't realize Hubby had called his brother and sister-in-law to come sit with G-man and K-bug. I didn't even realize he was in the ambulance too, up front, until we were a few miles down the road.
We went to the Women's and Children's Hospital, which has the best burn unit around. When they got him into a room and started cleaning him up, we all realized that all the black was just paint, not charred skin. It took a little while to get him to open his eyes and test his vision. Once they did, his eye sight was fine. He ended up with minor burns around his eyes, and small minor burns on his arms and chest. Other than being tired and grouchy from the shock, he was fine.
I don't think I have ever been that scared in my life. I was so afraid I was going to loose him. Or at the very least, he would be blind or disfigured. But my beautiful little boy was fine, and we were so very thankful.
For about 2 years after that he could not handle the sound of fireworks. The boom would send him into a crying fit. Really, I wasn't much better about the noise myself. But, he is fine now. He is a beautiful 7 year old boy, and he doesn't remember any of it.
I thank God everyday, probably not nearly enough, for my 3 beautiful children. Although they drive me crazy some times, I wouldn't give anything in the world for them.
Hug your children everyday. Tell them you love them everyday. We don't know how long we will have them with us. So cherish them for as long as you do.

A stolen, stolen meme
I stole a meme from Ann. Well, she said "play along". (Besides, she stole it first).
1. Who is your man? Mihai. He also goes by Mike.
2. How long have you been together? almost 14 years
3. How long dated? 2 1/2 years
4. How old is your man? 4 1/2 years older than me.
5. Who eats more? That would be him. He can really put it away when it's a meal he's really into.
6. Who said "I love you" first? I think him, but I really can't remember.
7. Who is taller? him.
8. Who sings better? Me, but that's not really saying much, we both suck.
9. Who is smarter? It depends on the topic, (but usually me, hehe).
10. Who's temper is worse? His, I am pretty laid back.
11. Who does the laundry? Me. He hasn't touched the washing machine since he hooked it up.
12..Who does the dishes? Me. Are you starting to see a pattern here?
13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Him, it's closer to the door.
14. Who pays the bills? Me, and I HATE it.
15. Who has bigger feet? Him. I can almost fit both my feet into one of his shoes.
16. Who has longer hair? Me.

18. Who mows the lawn? Usually me, (do ya see what I'm sayin'?)
19. Who cooks dinner? Me
20. Who drives when you are together? Me, he claims traffic makes him too nervous.
21. Who pays when you go out? We have a joint account, but it's usually my debit card we use.

24. Whose parents do you see the most? Mine, they live closer.
25. Who kissed who first? don't remember, I think he kissed me.
26. Who asked who out? He did. I was working at Mickey D's and he pick me up through the drive thru, "can I get a Big Mac, a Large Coke, and your phone #, Please......)
27. Who proposed? He did.
28. Who is more sensitive? ME, but not as much as I use to be.
29. Who has more friends? Probably him. But mine are better!
30. Who has more siblings? Him. He has 12, I am an only child.

Sometimes life is crazy
Yes folks, I'm back. Last week was a rough one. I'm hoping this week will be better, (but I'm not counting on it). I guess I should start at the beginning.
Last Tuesday night my bff K had a seizure and hit her head on her ceramic tile floor. Another friend, D, called 911 and the EMT's checked K out and made sure someone would be with her through the night. Her boyfriend, my brother-in-law staid w/her.
Wed. she slept a lot, so I just called a few times to check on her. That evening her oldest son came over to get me because she wasn't feeling "right". I went to check on her and while I was there she had to mini-seizures and passed out. I called 911, and sent her boys across the street to stay with a neighbor. While waiting for the EMT's she had another seizure, and I was really starting to freak out. Now let me just say at this point that I have been through several seizures with her and have always kept it together, I know how to handle it. But this one was different. I KNEW she needed to go to the hospital. She ended up staying in the hospital until Friday. A lot of crap went on during those days, but I just can't get into all that. But I will say this. K has some tough love headed her way. The cause of her seizures is her not eating! Her eating disorder has decided to rear it's ugly head again. A few of us, her closest friends, are going to sit her down a give her a dose of tough love, how she needs to take care of herself because she is all her boys have, (her husband killed himself a year and 1/2 ago). I don't think we'll have to be to hard on her though. This seems to have been a wake up call for her. And she is blessed to have her friends that really care about her no matter what. What more can anyone ask for?
The reason I said this week might not be much better? Well, I might have been exaggerating that one. It might be fine, I've just got some personal stuff going on right now. I will share at a later date when I actually know what.........what it is I want to say.

Back to school
Well, today was the boys first day back at school. I really hope they like their teachers. I'm excited with the fact that this year they are right across the hall from each other. Class parties will be so much easier this time around. Last year I was walking from one end of the school to the other, trying to spend as much time with each class as I could. It was exhausting, especially with a toddler in tow.
I am also very nervous for G-man. He is in the 4th grade this year, and they have started a pilot program in his school where the 4th & 5th graders switch classes, like middle & high school. They just seem to young for this. But, I should also mention that I think 6th grade should be put back into the elementary schools down here. They are still little kids, and shouldn't be put in a school with teenagers, (hormonally charged ones at that). Also, the middle school and high school students around here ride the same bus at the same time. That means 11 year olds are riding the same bus as 18 year olds! Just thinking about it makes me crazy. Hopefully they will put 6th grade back where it belongs before G-man gets there, (there are talks of this happening), so I won't have to worry quite as much.
In other news, I go tuesday to get my fingerprinting done and schedule my class to become a substitute teacher. It will still probably be a couple of months before I start though, since I also have to wait for a background check to come back. I'll keep y'all posted.
And now a funny for all of my southern friends, (and those who wish you were).........

More Suthen-ism's:
Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't "HAVE" them, you "PITCH" them.
Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess."
Only a Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder."
Only a Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is, . as in: "Going to town, be back directly."
Even Southern babies know that "Gimme some sugar" is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.
All Southerners know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.
Only a Southerner knows instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin!
Only Southerners grow up knowing the difference between "right near" and "a right far piece." They also know that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20.
Only a Southerner, both knows and understands, the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash.
No true Southerner would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.
A Southerner knows that "fixin" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb.
Only Southerners make friends while standing in lines, ... and when we're "in line," . we talk to everybody!
Put 100 Southerners in a room and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage.
In the South, y'all is singular, all y'all is plural.
Southerners know grits come from corn and how to eat them.
Every Southerner knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that red eye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food.
When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin'," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Southerner!
Only true Southerners say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea indicates the need for sugar and lots of it -- we do not like our tea unsweetened. "Sweet milk" means you don't want buttermilk.
And a true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 MPH on the freeway. You just say,"Bless her heart" ... and go your own way.
To those of you who are still a little embarrassed by your Southerness: Take two tent revivals and a dose of sausage gravy and call me in the morning.
Bless your heart!
And to those of you who are still having a hard time understanding all this Southern stuff, ... bless your hearts, I hear they are fixin' to have classes on Southernness as a second language!
And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, all y'all need a sign to hang on y'alls front porch that reads "I ain't from the South, but I got here as fast as I could."
Southern girls know men may come and go, but friends are fahevah
Now...... Shugah, send this to someone who was raised in the South or wish they had been!
If you're a Northern transplant, Bless your little heart, fake it.
We know you got here as fast as you could.
Got this as an e-mail and loved it. Some of it is soooo true. Bless your heart!

TMI Tuesday
I saw this TMI Tuesday on Lisa's blog, and thought I'd give it a go. Thanks Lis!
1. What is the worst/corniest pick up line someone has used on you and/or you used? I'm sure probably every one has heard this one-"Girl, you must be tired, 'cause you've been runnin through my mind all night!"
2. Have you ever gone out on a date with someone and went home with someone else? Explain. No, but I did exchange phone #'s with a guy I met while out on a (really bad) blind date.
3. What is the worst thing (spread a rumor, hook up with their SO, etc...) that you did to a friend? Did they do anything to deserve it? Nothing that I can think of. I have always kept friend secrets even after the friendship was over. I have had it done to me though. (Lisa, remember Mike B. in high school after I left?)
4. What is your favorite sex scene in a regular movie (not porn)? Why? I really don't know, how about Forest Gump, with Forest and Jenny, that was actually kind of funny.
5. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? What would you change on your SO? That we could both look like we did when we met. We were much cuter back then.
Bonus (as in optional): What countries, other than your own, have you had sex in? Was it someone on the trip with you? Someone from that country? I have only been to Mexico, and I was too young to even think about sex.

Loaded question wednesday
Thanks Michelle for the post idea. These are some strange questions though...........
LOADED QUESTIONS
Hypothetically: If you could project yourself into the past, where would you go? Wow, I'm not sure. My past, or just the past in general? If you want my past, I'd say high school, but I would want to know what I know now. Then I could avoid dating all those losers, along with other stupid mistakes I made.
Now the past in general, maybe the 80's? No, bad fashion. 50's? No, women didn't have enough independents. 1900's? No, I like wearing my jeans, not to mention-I am rather fond of indoor plumbing.
Anything Goes: Fill in the blank- I would eat twenty live cockroaches, if they were covered with __________.
Okay, this one is just too gross to think about. I wouldn't eat one live, (or dead for that matter), cockroach, even if it was covered in the worlds finest chocolate. Forget about 20 of them. eewwww.
No-Brainers: What is your favorite professional sports stadium? Well, since I don't really watch sports on TV, I really don't have a clue on this one. Does Talladaga count?
Personals: On a scale from one to ten, how proficient are you in car repair? Maybe a 5. I can change a tire, check my oil, and other fluids, and fill it up with gas, but that's probably about it. That's what the hubby is for! But I will help him as much as I can.
